This statement explains what the California Secondary School Redesign Pilot Program website (secondaryschoolredesign.org) collects, why, who receives it, and the choices you have. The site is run by the California Collaborative for Educational Excellence (CCEE).
What you send us through the forms
The site has four forms. Each one asks only for what’s needed to answer you.
- Contact: your name and email (required), your organization (optional), what your message is about, and your message.
- Partner: your name and email (required), your organization and its type, what you’re interested in, and anything more you’d like to tell us.
- Nominate a bright spot: your name and email (required), who you’re nominating and what they’re doing (required), what others can learn from it, how we can learn more, and whether you have permission to share it or can connect us with the people involved.
- Subscribe to Common Ground: your email (required), and if you choose, your first and last name and which of these describes you (educator, school or district leader, policymaker, higher education, funder or partner, family, other).
Why we ask: to answer your message, follow up on a partnership or nomination, and send you the newsletter you asked for. We use what you send only for the purpose of the form you filled in.
Please don’t include private details about students in a nomination. If we’d like to feature a bright spot, we’ll contact you first, before featuring any of the information you provided.
Where your information goes
- Contact, Partner and Nominate: your message is kept in the website’s database for CCEE’s team, who may also receive it by email at redesign@ccee-ca.org.
- Subscribe: your sign-up is kept in the website’s database and added to the Common Ground mailing list, which CCEE runs on Mailchimp. Mailchimp is a newsletter service; its own privacy policy (opens in a new tab) applies to the list. Every newsletter includes a link to unsubscribe.
- Our web host stores the website and its database, and sends the site’s form emails.
- We don’t sell your information, and we don’t share it with anyone else except as described here or where the law requires it.
How long we keep it
- Form messages: only as long as we need them to respond to you and for CCEE’s records. You can ask us to delete them at any time.
- Newsletter sign-ups: until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove you.
- Visitor statistics: kept in CCEE’s Google Analytics account, under that account’s settings.
Cookies and visitor statistics
Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. This site has no ads, and no advertising or social-media trackers.
- Visitor statistics (Google Analytics): the site uses Google Analytics to see how the site is used: to count visits and see which pages are used. It records the pages you visit, the links you click, your approximate location, your browser and device, and how you reached the site. It doesn’t identify you by name or account, and Google says Google Analytics doesn’t log or store IP addresses (opens in a new tab). Google sets two cookies for this,
_gaand_ga_followed by the site’s ID (Google’s list (opens in a new tab)). Google’s privacy policy (opens in a new tab). - Security: our web host’s security service sets one short-lived cookie (
__cf_bm) that helps tell people from automated traffic. It holds no name or account details and expires after 30 minutes of inactivity (opens in a new tab). - If you’d rather not be counted: you can block or delete cookies in your browser’s settings, or install Google’s opt-out add-on for Google Analytics (opens in a new tab), which stops Google Analytics on every website you visit. The site works the same either way.
- Browser privacy signals: the site doesn’t respond to browser privacy signals such as “Do Not Track” or Global Privacy Control; use the options above.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, the site’s servers keep standard technical records of each visit, such as your IP address, the page you asked for, the time, and your browser type. These are used to run and protect the site.
Links to other websites
The site links to other organizations’ websites and documents. Their own privacy policies apply when you leave this site.
Children
The site is written for educators, leaders, partners and families, not for children, and we don’t knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Keeping your information safe
The site uses an encrypted connection (https) for every page and form. Access to form messages and the mailing list is limited to the CCEE staff who handle them.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us at any time to:
- tell you what information we hold about you from this site;
- correct it; or
- delete it.
To unsubscribe from Common Ground, use the link in any newsletter, or ask us.
Changes to this statement
If we change this statement, we’ll post the new version on this page and update the effective date at the top.
